The Amsler Grid is a tool for monitoring chronic eye diseases, frequently recommended by ophthalmologists to detect distortions or spots in the visual field. It was originally distributed in paper form. OdySight has digitized this grid so that results can be sent directly to the doctor, eliminating the need to wait for an appointment to detect any changes. The patient focuses on a central point on the grid. If the lines on the grid appear wavy, blurry, or missing, this may indicate a retinal problem.

Performing the Amsler Grid test in OdySight
Open and log in to the OdySight app using your password:
Access the tests by clicking the eye icon in the lower right corner of the screen to display the list of tests:
Select “Amsler Grid”; the app will tell you which eye to test:
Be sure to wear your prescription glasses if you have them
Watch the demonstration; at the end, you can start the test by tapping the “Medical Test” button or “Practice” to review the instructions again
Get ready for the test:
- Choose good lighting with no direct light on your face or the camera
- Stabilize your device by placing it on a stable surface. If the medical practice has provided you with the OdySight stand (blue box or easel), you can use it. Otherwise, placing a sufficiently heavy object behind your device will do the trick.
- Position yourself correctly in front of the screen and keep your hands free
Carry out the test by fixing the black dot and drawing on the grid with your finger the spots or deformations you perceive.
Finish your test by pressing Continue to send your grid to your doctor.
